Abstract
This chapter constitutes of eliciting information about visitor pledges that seek to positively influence visitor behaviour to reduce the negative impacts. Drawing on their semi-structured interview findings, the chapter presents the best practice actions and processes in developing and implementing visitor pledges. A set of recommendations are presented and will serve as a useful resource for both academics and practitioners. The points covered are stakeholder involvement and engagement, covering the public, private and third sectors; timeframes; inclusiveness, collaboration and consultation; communication, messaging, and creativity; indigenous voices; and content adaptation.
