Abstract
This short entry on the Peruvian liberation theologian Gustavo Gutiérrez (1928-2024) gives a brief overview of his life, his major works, and his primary theological concerns and commitments. His key contributions are identified as: a pastoral option for the poor; holistic liberation; theology as a second step; and a shift in theological focus from the ‘Non-Believer’ to the ‘Non-Person’.
