In this chapter, we provide a general introduction to mathematical modeling of epithelial ion transport. The basic mathematical concepts are introduced and the instantiation of these concepts into numerical simulation is demonstrated. Tools and technologies that aid scientists in the creation and use of epithelial ion transport models are also discussed.
