Abstract
A significant literature exists with respect to social innovation from many different perspectives, but, to date, not much has been written from the perspective of geographical marginality. In this chapter we present some relevant discussions that could be used as a starting point for the conceptualization of social innovation within the framework of geographical marginality. The first topic presented is social innovation in relation to the marginalization of individuals and social groups and the second topic is about social innovation and rural marginalization. The latter one is quite close to the framework of geographical marginality and represents a good basis for further investigation of social innovation from our perspective.
