Abstract
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the joint that attaches your lower jaw to your upper jaw, comprising both right and left TMJ components linked through your lower jaw (see Fig. 54.1). Unlike the knee joint, the TMJ is unique in several aspects. It functions as two joints in one, featuring a ball-and-socket structure; however, it distinguishes itself by having fibrocartilage, as opposed to the cartilage found in the knee joint.
