Abstract
The presence of pluripotent cells in the tooth makes the dental organ highly attractive in terms of tissue engineering because it is easily accessible, which facilitates the harvesting of stem cells and opens the way to autologous treatments. Nevertheless, other clinical applications such as root canal revascularisation, pulp implants, injection inside the root canal of cell-seeded hydrocolloid biogels, cells stimulation with growth factors for in situ cells activation, and gene therapy are being investigated in the hope of developing new endodontic treatments that will supplant the conventional pulpectomy/root canal filling procedure.
