Abstract

Cancer and Chronic Conditions (C3) Collection Māori New Zealand C3: Cancer and Māori equity C3: Equity in lung cancer survival for Māori COVID-19 lung cancer lung cancer diagnosis C3: Cancer control and service planning C3: Impact of COVID-19 on cancer care
Presentation by Dr. Jason Gurney, Department of Public Health, University of Otago, Wellington on the impact of COVID-19 on cancer registrations in New Zealand. For lung cancer, disparities in lung cancer registration and bronchoscopy rates widened between Māori and non-Māori/non-Pacific patients as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is was largely the result of disruption by the pandemic to the pathways by which Māori tend to present with subsequent diagnosis.
