Despite the need for early consideration of colectomy in patients with acute severe colitis (ASC), many physicians prefer to seek surgical input only after medical management has failed. The aim of this audit is to see if management of patients with ASC before colectomy was compliant with published ASC management guidelines and compare post-surgical outcomes to other similar studies.
