Abstract
Calibrating multiple depth cameras to a common coordinate space can be a laborious and time-consuming task, and often relies on expensive motion capture tracking systems. However, if accuracy constraints can be relaxed then a consumer-grade virtual reality tracking system is sufficient to support the calibration process. In this paper, we present a fast and convenient camera calibration method aimed at such systems. The calibration process can be carried out in about ten minutes and the resulting calibration is sufficiently accurate to achieve spatial coherence when targeting reconstructions on an 8 mm grid over a ≈ 2.2m 3 capture volume.
