Our results confirm the hypothesis that humoral antibodies are produced in animals with dermatophytosis and show that they can be detected using an IFA procedure. An interesting observation was that using IFA, no cross reactivity was evident between the various antisera to T. mentagrophytes var. erinacei and the M. canis antigen. This is in contrast to crossed immunoelectrophoretic studies where crossreactivity has been evident.
