Abstract

blood and hemopoietic system Candida albicans fungus in vitro study methodology serum
When yeast cells of Candida albicans are incubated in serum at 37°C germ-tubes are formed after three hours. This procedure is used routinely to identify the organism in pathological materials. The agents in serum responsible for germ-tube development have not been identified. In this paper the authors describe the extraction from serum of a germination factor for C. albicans.
