Abstract
A computational electromagnetic (CEM) model of a Transient Array Radio Telescope (TART) is designed using nonlinearly spaced 24 GPS patch antennas configured in a spiral pattern. The new spiral layout of the TART model is similar to the actual TART deployed in Mauritius. Simulation results show that the far-field gain of the array at 1575 MHz is 20 dBi along the main beam and the side lobe level is 10.08 dB. The CEM model is an attractive option for analysing antenna properties such as the far-field radiation pattern of the array and can be used to optimise TART.
