Abstract

antibody cytotoxic antibody B lymphocyte cancer cell cancer immunology cytotoxicity lymphocyte rat theoretical study
The results are similar to those of previous studies employing adult thymectomy plus irradiation and confirm that T lymphocytes are not the effector cells in antibody induced, lymphocyte mediated cytotoxicity (ALC). Accordingly, cytotoxicity in this system is presumed to be dependent on bone marrow derived (B) lymphocytes. The higher proportion of B lymphocytes in spleen cells from thymectomised animals would account for the increased ALC capacity demonstrated.
