Abstract
The World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) has established a targeted educational framework to address the growing need for ultrasound training in Oceania through its Centre of Education (CoE) in Fiji and Mobile CoE initiatives. This presentation examines the implementation strategies of WFUMB’s educational activities across Oceania, focusing on the period from 2022-2024. Through collaboration between the WFUMB Fiji-based CoE and the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) mobile CoE, WFUMB delivers practical ultrasound education primarily through intensive hands-on training sessions. This presentation explores the operational aspects of both fixed and mobile training delivery, highlighting the challenges of implementing sustainable ultrasound education in resource- limited settings, and outlines strategies for expanding WFUMB’s educational impact throughout Oceania. The initiative demonstrates the essential role of structured, hands-on ultrasound training in strengthening diagnostic capabilities in this region.
