Abstract
The data package contains the following data for use in a GIS:
1. A 0.5m digital surface model (DSM) derived from a UAV-lidar survey covering the Kitchener Avalanche Path, Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, New Zealand, captured on 30 November 2023. This survey captured the condition of the path following the melting of snow avalanche debris deposited during the July 2022 avalanche cycle rain runoff. Produced as .TIFF with elevation values relative to height above ellipsoid (HAE) in the New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 projection, EPSG: 2193.
2. A 0.5m difference of DEM (DoD) showing the elevation change between the 2023 DSM and 2022 DSM which was mapped immediately following the 2022 avalanche cycle and rain runoff. Elevation values are in meters and the coordinate system is the New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 projection, EPSG: 2193.
3. A polygon shapefile containing the area of avalanche debris in the Kitchener Path following the 2022 event. It was created manually using a 2022 orthoimage. The area units are in square meters and the coordinate system is the New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 projection, EPSG: 2193.
4. A polygon shapefile containing the area of the berm in the Kitchener Path, created manually using several ortho images. The coordinate system is the New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 projection, EPSG: 2193.
