Abstract
There are various methods of blood destruction in different species of animals and under normal and pathological conditions. Amongst the processes which have been considered to account for the destruction of erythrocytes, that of phagocytosis by fixed tissue cells or by wandering cells has long been observed but it has not been regarded as a factor of particular significance in blood destruction in man.
