Abstract
This study is titled ‘Exploring Science in New Zealand secondary schools.’ It investigated any financial constraints, administrative, teaching practices, and perceptions of teachers, students, their parents/guardians, and school administrators to understand better how and why some students do not achieve as well as others in secondary school Years 9 or 10 science. This study contributes to understanding the sustained problem of priority learners and analyses steps that might it be administrative, financial, or academic which may be taken to address this problem. The study presents individual cases involved in teaching and learning practices and presents real time phenomena in science classrooms keeping in mind indicators that are necessary to engage all students.
