Abstract

Modern Schools of Thought
“Social contract” means different things in different contexts; there is no single authoritative social contract theory. In present‐day popular discourse, the phrase is often used to denote a more or less tacit agreement in which the people remain obedient in exchange for a minimum package of social conditions.
