Abstract
Small businesses are the lifeline of societies. Their contribution includes providing employment to people, improving productivity, and contributing to the national and global economy. The arrival of COVID-19 revealed the vulnerability of small businesses. As countries have entered the post-COVID-19 era, it is crucial for small businesses to remain resilient. This commentary reviews the conventional way in which business is carried out. It raises the unsustainable nature of the business as usual model and purports strategies for developing the sustainability of small businesses.
