Abstract
This documentary takes us to Borneo’s stunningly beautiful Kinabalu Park with its centrepiece of Mount Kinabalu, the most biologically diverse place on Earth. In 2015, it was the epicentre of a powerful and deadly earthquake that killed 18 climbers. The locals maintain the earthquake was caused by the disrespectful behaviour of climbers who angered the spirits of the mountain. Alim Biun, a Kadazan Dusun local, has been protecting the mountain and its surroundings for 40 years but he is facing retirement and he is worried for the future of Mount Kinabalu and its incredible range of exotic animals and plants – many of them unique to the area – if he cannot find a successor.
