Abstract
a. The possibilities of an instrument for visual display of transient electrical effects are briefly described.
b. Details of specifications are given for an instrument using the sudden cut-off of a steady current for the generation of transients.
c. A general description, using a block diagram, is given of the instrument developed.
d. A specific description is given of each of the circuits used in the instrument, showing the limiting factors in design and the steps taken to overcome these.
e. This is followed by a list of measurements done on the circuits and a brief statement of the significance of each.
f. The performance of the instrument as a whole is then discussed, some of the limitations being show.
A mathematical analysis is made of one circuit and compared with the information got from the instrument. A further analysis as far as the operational equation of another circuit is attempted, and the instrument used to deduce the final solution.
