Abstract
Although many chemical analyses have been carried out on infant foods, and their various nutritive properties have been studied by biological methods, yet no method has been devised which gives a comparatively rapid estimation of the value of such a food. Accordingly, the following is an attempt to find a reliable method of testing a baby food by feeding it to rats.
In these experiments, a new and untested baby food is used, and it is compared with Glaxo, a food of proved value to the human infant.
This consists of
a. Chemical analysis
b. Determination of the nutritive value of the protein
c. Determination of vitamin content.
