Abstract
For some time past the writer, who has been a member of the staff of a large Boys’ High School for some thirteen years, has felt that an investigation into the correlation between the Secondary School attainment and Intelligence Level of pupils would be both profitable and interesting. At the same time it was felt that such a study should be carried on in conjunction with an examination of the existing data available in Primary School Records with a view to discovering in what way those data would be of assistance in classifying pupils on entrance to the High School, and in predicting to what extent pupils might be expected to benefit from the Secondary Course. The preliminary survey made before specific numerical data were obtained indicated that numerous collateral problems of an administrative or pedagogical nature would be met with during the course of the investigation, and it was felt that at least some of these could conveniently be studied, even though superficially, while the main line of research proceeded.
