Abstract

New Zealand Law street harassment women criminal law Otago Yearbook of Legal Research
Acts of street harassment are a regular occurrence for many women in New Zealand, despite the prevention efforts of social activism. This dissertation asks two questions: First, what is the role of the criminal law in preventing street harassment of women in New Zealand? Second, what criminal law mechanisms might address street harassment and, if such mechanisms exist, are they adequate to deal with the problem that it represents?
