WAVEWATCH III® has been used in this thesis to model ocean waves in the marginal ice zone in the Ross Sea. While the original goal was to perform a hindcast of a 2017 wave event recorded using in-situ measurements, a lack of documentation about the model's configuration meant this thesis instead focuses on configuring the desired behaviour within the model. The configuration of the individual programs that make up WAVEWATCH III® are mostly controlled by entries in dedicated configuration files, but additional components such as editing the switch file, specifying NetCDF environment variables, and others are often required. This thesis details the specific edits to the multiple files that are required for the desired behaviour. Although the final model configuration is not representative of the historical conditions of interest, a functional configuration outputting results was achieved. These results are discussed alongside issues encountered and potential solutions, leaving the door open to future research.
