Abstract

The home-maker, and similarly every other human being, has three scarce factors to consider – money, time and energy. Except in times of severe depression there are usually ways in which one may obtain more money – by selling one’s labour. However, nothing can alter the fact that there are only twenty-four hours in every day and seven days in every week, and in spite of various attempts made by biochemists and physiologists, the human body cannot spend more than a certain amount of energy without requiring rest. Thus these two factors – time and energy – are most important to the home-maker and it has been the object of this work to study some aspects of home-making practice, particularly as they effect the expenditure of time and energy.
