Abstract
In this opinion piece I extend an invitation to members of the sports coaching community to reflect upon what continually doing the same thing means for their practices and the people with whom they work. I present the following challenges and provide examples of how rising to them has enabled me to work across boundaries and in the process of doing so contribute to a paradigm shift that has occurred in the sports coaching field. Challenges: (1) be curious, (2) be open-minded and open-hearted to people working inside and outside the sports coaching community, (3) engage with ideas that do, and do not, resonate with how you view the world and, (4) be willing to ask informed, as well as naïve, questions.
