Abstract
This study reviews the literature on international accreditation for tourism and hospitality education. Based on our review, we develop a typology – non-seekers, seekers, accredited, and post-accredited – to illustrate different levels of accreditation adoption based on various drivers and resistance. Further, we propose a framework that integrates the four types and the concept of ‘value’ from two lenses: benefits and challenges. This conceptual article aims to enhance understanding of the potential value of tourism accreditation for tourism and hospitality education. Therefore, the framework offers a conceptual tool that can be used to evaluate the actual value of tourism accreditation.
