Abstract

Primary health care (PHC) has long been recognised as the foundation of equitable and resilient health systems, supporting universal access to essential services and contributing to improved population health outcomes. The World Association of Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) and the World Association of Family Doctors (WONCA) recognise that PHC and primary care (PC) have a key role in disasters. Despite this, PHC and PC have been underrepresented in disaster planning for emergency readiness.
