Abstract

environmental law law and emotions Environmental law Land use and environmental planning
Land-use planning law has often been used as a conduit for the local community to express its anger and opposition towards a planning permission application for a proposed development. Contemporary thinking about the role of planning law requires planning authorities to meaningfully engage with such emotions from the local community to maintain public confidence in the planning permission process and aid in the final decision becoming accepted (or tolerated) by the local community.
