Abstract
This article details the authors personal experience as a woman lawyer working in the New Zealand government. The author begins by describing some of the processes involved in New Zealand policy formulation and legislative drafting, before offering some thoughts on the differences between working in government as opposed to working in private practice. The author concludes that the reason some women may find it difficult to work in government is perhaps not because the work environment is so different from private practice, but because it is not different enough.
