Fatty acid glycolates are nanomolar inhibitors of small cell lung carcinoma peptidylglycine alpha-amidating monooxygenase, with binding affinities orders of magnitude stronger than those of the analogous thioesters, the corresponding substrate glycine derivatives or the natural substrate procalcitonin.
