Abstract
This paper presents a brief description of the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Child Development Study, some findings from a study of 1037 Dunedin three year old children, and some general preliminary recommendations for improved services for preschool children with developmental disorders. This introductory article is the first of a series of reports that will appear in future editions of the journal. Some of the recommendations made may be of particular interest to those planning for the International Year of the Child. (The best general overview is MO4.)
