Abstract

The law of evidence in New Zealand has recently been amended by statute to permit appropriately qualified experts to give a wider range of testimony concerning the behaviour of child complainants of sexual abuse. The author discusses the evidence that may now be presented; considers the forensic context within which this testimony is admitted; and describes the common law background against which these developments have occurred.
