Abstract
Sudden grant terminations have a range of troubling ethical implications, including concerns raised by researchers about the potential harms to participants and communities when their projects lose funding. This commentary uses a three-part definition of moral distress to explore how these concerns and experiences of researchers can be understood as forms of moral distress that demand institutional and system-level responses.
