Abstract

Peritonitis remains an important cause of morbidity and mortality among children in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where delayed access to emergency surgical care contributes to adverse outcomes. Recent systematic and scoping reviews have reported sex-related differences in children's access to surgical care across LMICs, although evidence from Afghanistan remains scarce.
