Letter to the Editor re: Hosseini et al. (2021) Nitrate-nitrite exposure through drinking water and diet and risk of colorectal cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies. Clinical Nutrition 40(5):3073-3081. doi: 10.1016/j.clnu.2020.11.010. We thank Hosseini et al. for their extensive review article on the link between nitrate in food and drinking water and risk of colorectal cancer [1]. However, we have serious concerns related to the meta-analysis and its conclusions on the quantification of the link between nitrate in drinking water and colorectal cancer.
