Letter to the Editor re: Mendelsohn CP, et al. Do the differing vaping and smoking trends in Australia and New Zealand reflect different regulatory policies? Addiction. 2025. p. 1–11. https://doi.org/10.1111/add.70006 Mendelsohn et al. suggest Aotearoa/New Zealand's rapid smoking decline is because of less restrictive vaping policies, yet this claim is based on flawed assumptions and weaknesses in methods. The article selectively reports data to support pro-vaping positions, warranting caution from readers.
