Abstract
This year I was privileged to attend two international respiratory meetings. These meetings covered a broad range of topics but biologic treatments seemed to feature in most of the sessions that I attended. Each year we learn more about monoclonal antibodies for asthma and they are now beginning to find their place in COPD. However, at current costs, no health system can afford to provide these drugs to more than a small proportion of patients. Most will continue to rely on cheaper treatments, which, from my observations, featured far less at the conferences.
