Dr Rebecca Abey-Nesbit, a researcher at the University of Otago, Christchurch, has spent the past four years working as part of a team dedicated to better ageing research. In this article, Rebecca shares her research into the impacts of loneliness and carer stress on older adults. Social supports for older adults have been identified as being important to help reduce the impact of loneliness and informal carer stress. We conducted research to identify the impacts of loneliness and carer stress on older adults living in the community who receive home care support services.
