Abstract
This Mazurka was composed for Anna Kijanowska as part of a project devoted to performance and recording of mazurkas, music based on the traditional Polish dance.
The main theme adopts some of the rhythmic characteristics of mazurkas and has a whimsical, playful character. A more lyrical melody with rippling chords provides a contrast and this is then arpeggiated in a more flowing passage. These two main themes are developed, building to a climax before the music fades quietly away.
