The Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, with Tessa Petersen (concertmaster, first violin) and Helen du Plessis (principal cello) performed a stunning programme of music featuring works by Biber, Tan Dun and Beethoven, at the King's and Queen's Performing Arts Centre, Dunedin. The DSO was conducted by Umberto Clerici as they performed Heinrich Biber's experimental work Battalia a 10 and Tan Dun's Crouching Tiger Concerto with guest cellist Ashley Brown. This was followed by an encore of The Swan from Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saën and finally, in the second half, the DSO gave a spirited performance of Beethoven's Symphony no. 4.
