Abstract
The Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, with Tessa Petersen (concertmaster, first violin) and Helen du Plessis (principal cello) performed a stunning programme of music. The DSO was conducted by Umberto Clerici as they performed Heinrich Biber's experimental work Battalia a 10 and Tan Dun's Crouching Tiger Concerto with guest cellist Ashley Brown. This was followed by an encore of The Swan from Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saën and finally, in the second half, the DSO gave a spirited performance of Beethoven's Symphony no. 4.
