Abstract
The purpose of this report is to support the broader research being undertaken by Rural Health and Care Wales into GP provision across mid Wales and exploring alternative models of primary care interventions. This analysis focusses on distances to GPs.
Key Findings:
• 29% of the population in rural mid-Wales has a GP within 1km, compared to 40% of the population in all of Wales;
• Almost all of the population has a GP within 20km;
• There are limited options – on average people in rural mid-Wales have 3.8 GPs within 20km, compared to more than 9 across all of Wales;
• There is very limited public transport.
