Abstract
This literature review summarises current evidence for what works to reduce alcohol and other drug (AOD) harm, with a focus on relevance to Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ). This was created for Te Hiringa Mahara, to support their development of a position statement and approach to alcohol and other drug harm reduction.
This review aims to answer:
- What are the known harms, and drivers of harms, associated with alcohol and other drugs in NZ?
- What legislative, policy, and practical approaches (nationally and internationally) are shown by evidence to be effective for reducing alcohol and other drug harm?
- What approaches and interventions could reduce harm from alcohol and other drugs in NZ?
