Abstract
This report is an inquiry into the lives of trans people in New Zealand. The authors recommend four areas for immediate attention: increasing participation of trans people in decisions affecting them, strengthening legal protection against discrimination, improving access to health services, simplifying requirements for change of sex on legal documents, and acknowledging human rights issues affecting intersex people. The report concludes that the implementation of these recommendations is necessary to ensure that trans people and their families enjoy the same rights as other people in New Zealand.
