Abstract
The Brain Injury Sense of Self Scale (BISOSS) is a valid interval scale that produces a measure of strength of self-identity for people after traumatic brain injury. BISOSS is a point-in-time measure of self-identity, grounded in language used by people with traumatic brain injury, which produces interval-level measurement data, established through Rasch analysis. BISSOS focuses explicitly on a person’s sense of self, rather than other characteristics or traits such as self-esteem, self-concept or personality. These guidelines contains instructions for the administration and scoring of BISOSS, and a blank copy of the BISOSS form. BISOSS is free for anyone to use under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
