Abstract:
This thesis is about underwater noise pollution from commercial tourism and industrial vessels, naval sonar and oil exploration, and its effects on marine mammals. It will review case studies of the effects of noise pollution on some marine mammal species in the world to determine how these cases can be applied to New Zealand marine mammals. It will then suggest solutions to minimize the impacts of man-made noise pollution on marine mammals.
