Abstract

Children in the custody of Oranga Tamariki (in-care children) face a unique set of complex challenges due to divided loyalties to the people they live with, varying degrees of contact with birth families, and pre-placement experiences. This study aimed to understand what effect these factors had on the health outcomes of children in state care, and how these compared to other children in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ).
