Abstract

bone hematoma histology injury muscle ossification theoretical study
This pilot study has shown that a consistent, reproducible lesion can be produced by physical injury of the hind limb of sheep. Though only two legs of the six sheep killed 3 or more weeks after injury contained any ossifying material. The authors believe that by improving the technique it may be possible to produce lesions comparable to human quadriceps haematoma, some of which will ossify.
